Sue Snaddon

Sue loves contributing to the built environment, particularly leading interdisciplinary teams on projects to ensure that clients get what they really want.  Her first degree was in Building Science at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg (from which she graduated cum laude in 1997, receiving the Building Industries Federation of SA gold medal).  She then completed her MSt in Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment at Cambridge University, graduating in 2013.

She has experience working in a design role on commercial and residential developments in South Africa, Lesotho and the UK, and has also been based on site for contractors in SA and the UK.

In her current role at Arup based in Johannesburg, she specialises in managing multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed teams on building, urban design, technical review and research projects and has done so across South Africa as well as in Mauritius, Lesotho, Ghana and Kenya.

She maintains strong links with universities, lectures occasionally at Wits and the University of Cape Town (UCT) and currently serves as a trustee for the Arup Education Trust in South Africa.  She is a former member of the Council for the Project and Construction Management professions in SA (SACPCMP), and acted as its Finance Chairperson for 4.5 years.
